Cabarita Boardriders is the definition of a grassroots surfing club. The club first began in 1985 as an underground family-orientated club. The club continues to flourish today with the same mission and values.
For a small club, Cabarita Boardriders continues to thrive in team challenges, in the top end of the draw in most events. The club took home a title in 1997 against many larger competitive clubs.
Cabarita has always produced great underground surfers such as Chippa Wilson, freestyle surfer extraordinaire; Robbie Johnson, ex-world grom title and current WQS women’s competitors, Zahli Kelly.
Club President and fellow Usher Cup competitor, Brent Savage, says “The Usher Cup is a great opportunity for Cabarita Boardriders to showcase their grassroots club and its surfers”.
