Camp Quality is one of Australia’s favourite children’s charities, providing children battling cancer with moments of pure joy, comfort, and most importantly a break from their day-to-day struggles.

Camp Qualities services and programs are specifically tailored to help kids up to the age of 13 who may be battling the disease themselves, along with those who have had a loved one diagnosed with cancer.

The organisation’s employees make it their mission to brighten the day of every child they come into contact with, providing them with a reason and opportunity to laugh, make new friends and enjoy a series of fun-filled challenges and activities. In essence, they exist to create positive memories whilst also working to change and manage children’s perceptions on cancer.

Camp Quality provides support acorss four different areas of life:
• At home
• At school,
• In hospital
• In the community.

Through the provision of “Fun Days” and “Family Experiences” Camp Quality provides an opportunity to connect outside the confines of the hospital or respite centre. These experiences can include sporting events, Zoo & Park visits and even concerts.

In hospitals, the Family Liaison Officers and Child Life Therapists provide effective face to face support, with playful demonstrations of medical impending procedures which have been shown to greatly reduce anxiety and misunderstanding.

At school, Camp Quality bring their puppets (Kylie, Dean and Mel) for an interactive, funny and educational performance, the shows topics include discussing cancer, dispelling common myths, and demonstrating how we can all play a role in providing support to those in need.

The Camp Quality team also host a variety of camps, retreats and fun activities for families who have been affected by cancer.

Usher Cup Contest Director Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew said that Camp Quality is a charity, that Australia’s surfers love to get behind.

“It is life changing to see the effects on siblings and entire families when a child is seriously ill, and the folks at Camp Quality are so wonderful,” Bartholomew said.

“The inaugural Usher Cup in conjunction with the Usher Groups charitable arm Usher Love are wrapped to be raising funds and awareness for this remarkable charity and to be providing joy and comfort of these beautiful children and their families.”
Camp Quality Community & Corporate Fundraising Coordinator Debra Moore is thrilled that the Usher Cup selected Camp Quality as a charity partner. “With the support of the Usher Cup, we can ensure that more children impacted by cancer can join us on a Camp or Fun Day in 2021,” Debra said. “We are positive that this partnership will strengthen and further the awareness of childhood cancer within the surfing community and wider community.”

Camp Quality and their many services help build life skills and boost the wellbeing of kids. Their interactive yet educational programs truly change kid’s lives and help them cope with the challenges cancer causes.
