Club Spotlight: Currumbin Alley Boardriders

Currumbin Alley Boardriders are returning for Usher Cup 2022, bigger and better than before! Alley Boardriders is made up of a group of passionate surfers based on the Gold Coast who meet regularly for competitions and surf sessions.

With such a close-knit team, Alley Boardriders will certainly be a team to watch at the annual Usher Cup 2022. Family fun, performance and an intense passion for surfing lie at the heart of this club’s rich history.

Since its establishment in 1981, Currumbin Alley has produced many notable surfers such as Luke Munroe, Grant Frost and Mark Richardson. Currumbin Alley President Jeff Butler says the club is committed to assisting its amateur competitors in achieving their professional goals.

Speaking on the Usher Cup event, Jeff commends the hybrid nature of the competition and the fact that it provides such a great opportunity for the clubs’ up and coming stars.

“It’s a great opportunity for the club, especially because it’s a grassroots event,” he said.

“It offers a chance for kids to showcase their talents as well as promote the healthy surfing lifestyle.”

Coming in at eighth place at last year’s event, Alley Boardriders have something to prove this competition season. Last year’s female competitor, Jade Weatley, was in the finals for the women’s event. If she returns, Jade will certainly have a weight on her shoulders.

We can’t wait to see what Alley Boardriders turn out at January’s 2022 Usher Cup event.
