WindanSea Surf Club are back, and we couldn’t be more stoked! These legends placed an impressive third on the podium in last year’s event, so they’re certainly a club to watch at Usher Cup 2022. With such fierce competition from the likes of North Narrabeen to Torquay welcomed into this year’s heats, competition is set to be fierce!
Windansea Surf Club was born to win, and win they have. Since 1970, Windansea Boardriders have an extensive history on the competition circuit which made them such great competitors at last year’s event.
The WindanSea club mission is to promote the sport of surfing and actively being involved with the local community, encouraging and attracting young surfers on the Sunshine Coast to become new members while promoting the integrity and sportsmanship in the sport of surfing. This is why grassroots surf comps like Usher Cup so appealing.
“WindanSea support events like Usher Cup as this gives Boardriding clubs the opportunity to enjoy the mateship and camaraderie that is showcased within our grassroots surfing culture- an important feature more so with our current travel restrictions upon our community, plus it’s always great to catch up with many old friends!” said Terry Landsberg, Secretary WindanSea Boardriders.
As a grassroots club, WindanSea also donate their time and skills to charity and community events. With a long standing affiliation with the Disabled Surfer’s Association since its inception, the club members regularly attend and help out during their surfing events.
With hearts of gold and minds of steel, WindanSea are most definitely ones to watch this competition season.
